Teologia negra no Brasil e seu papel: uma reflexão possível?

Abstract

From the question and the possibility of reflecting on Black Theology in Brazil, we hope to highlight its importance and representativeness. Through the awareness of its place of speech and the need for encounter and intercultural dialogue, it may favor the construction of new knowledge that aims to confront the reigning structural racism. Perhaps we will be able to point paths for a better recognition of belonging and the value of black people to society. The present work starts from the restlessness in approaching and deepening concepts of a specific religious phenomenon: Black Theology in Brazil, to better understand its origin, main exponents and how it occurs in Brazil, taking into account the role of Black people in it. We will observe how Catholicism behaves in this universe, starting from the Magisterium of Pope Francis in putting into practice the Second Vatican Council, without theorizing about it. This will be a bibliographical research and, from the formal point of view, we will ask: is there a Black Theology in Brazil with defined roles and if so, how is it possible to forge a reflection about it? The expected results circumscribe to the fact that we will understand if the black person will feel contemplated in this process to reach an equal place. Where there is no room for prejudice, this openness should embrace everyone, indistinctively. Thus, the present investigation provides a reading and insertion of the Black as an active and integral subject with a common place of speech in the Church, in society, and in the religious communities where they are inserted
